Sheila Halvorson

Sheila Halvorson, age 77, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK with her family by her side. Sheila Diane Halvorson was born August 26, 1940 in Lethbridge, AB to Ambrose & Ione Hines. Sheila, along with her three sisters, grew up and took their schooling in Lethbridge. After graduation, she completed her nurses training at St. Michael’s School of Nursing in Lethbridge and received her RN diploma. On November 4, 1961, she married Lavern Halvorson in Lethbridge. They moved to Abbey, SK and together, raised three sons — Craig, Kent, and Darren. Sheila was one of the original members of the Sandhills Home Care Association and loved her work in the health care community, working as an RN in Cabri. She also enjoyed being as active as possible — be it curling, golfing, basketball, skiing, gardening or knitting — she was always on the go. Sheila will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 56 years, Lavern Halvorson; her sons, Craig (Joani) Halvorson, Kent (Laurie) Halvorson, and Darren (Cindy) Halvorson; her grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle) O’Neill, Randa Halvorson, Amy Halvorson, Jordyn Halvorson, Shelby Halvorson, Cody Halvorson, Kaylee Halvorson, and Jonathan Halvorson; her great-grandchildren, Jameson and Camryn O’Neil; her sisters, Sharon “Midge” (Tom) Fowler and Gail Holland; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Brenda) Halvorson and Diane Duncan; and by many nieces and nephews. Sheila was predeceased by her parents, Ambrose & Ione Hines; her sister, Darlene Irvine; her parents-in-law, Allan & Christie Halvorson; and by her brother-in-law, Dick Duncan. The

Funeral Liturgy for Sheila Halvorson was held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish, Swift Current, SK with David Hagel as Celebrant. Special music was brought by the Hagel family. Scripture was read by Gail Holland and Rev. Salesi Takau. The tribute was given by Craig Halvorson. The Private Interment Service was held from the Abbey Cemetery, Abbey, SK.
